'HOPE IS' Series

Currently, TEAR Fund is highlighting projects in Mongolia, The Philippines and Vanuatu. All of these focus on providing environmentally sustainable production in changing times. These studies raise questions on this topic for us: Our Biblical responsibility to care for the land; Christianity’s not-so-flash history of this; pathways for a theology of care for the land and for eco-justice; and the part we can play in living in ways that support the efforts of these people to feed themselves into the future.

'Peace on Earth' Series

Those who are poorest suffer immensely through war and violent conflict. We know this grieves the heart of our God, but we’re often unsure about how to respond. In these three studies, we will look at conflict around the globe, begin to explore how strongly Jesus’ life and teaching directs our response, and what the call to be peace-makers might look like in our churches, communities, nation and world.

These three studies look at the causes of food insecurity, the point of fasting; including a look at the meaning of the 'true fast' described in Isaiah 58, and what relationship food has with issues of faith and justice.

Income in the developing world is always a hot topic, but to understand 'God's economy' we also need to look at how we make our money at home. These three studies look at the model of microenterprise and the moral and spiritual benefits of it in the developing world, income generation in NZ and the rich/poor gap, and our motivation around work.

'Break the Cycle of Poverty' Series

The poverty cycle can best be defined as the set of factors or events by which poverty, once started, is likely to continue unless there is outside intervention. In these three studies, we examine the causes of global poverty, how to use our voices and advocate for the poor, and how to respond to poverty in a biblical way.
