![]() Australian Idol winner Stan Walker is getting behind TEAR Fund New Zealand’s fundraising appeal for Haiti earthquake victims. Walker, who has a heart for the poor, will help raise money through his concert in Taupo, and his appearances at free events; Manukau’s Waitangi Day Family Celebrations and Hamilton’s Waitangi Celebrations.
The Kiwi-born singer has been phenomenally popular with New Zealand audiences and his debut single, Black Box, has reached number one in the radio charts in New Zealand. TEAR Fund executive director Stephen Tollestrup said TEAR Fund was delighted that an artist of his calibre was getting behind TEAR Fund to help ease the suffering of Haiti’s earthquake victims. “It is obvious that this young man has real compassion for those who are suffering in this world, and you can see it not only in his performances, but when he is offstage as well.” Concert details Taupo When: Fri February 5 Where: Taupo’s Riverside Park Unison Amphitheatre, Redoubt Street.
